I consider AdMob to be a great service.

Indie Smartphones Game developers are probably wondering how they can make money from advertising. So do I. In this article, I will tell you how I struggled and migrated from Google Admob to Unity Ads.

I think the reason why people use Admob is because of the good price per ad.

At the same time, some of you may be wondering if UnityAds will be able to generate enough revenue.

As a fledgling game developer myself, I have been able to generate a decent amount of revenue from UnityAds, although not a lot. The following image shows the earnings in 1 week.(This includes revenue from In app purchase)

To sum up, I use Unity Ads for the following three reasons.

  • Risks for new AdMob users
  • The ease of Unity Ads
  • Thanks to Unity

Let me explain each in detail.

Risks for new AdMob users

As a matter of fact, I was using Google AdMob last year.

(At that time, I hadn't used Unity yet, so I was developing my app with React Native, a Javascript framework.)

About a month after releasing the app, my AdMob account was suddenly suspended for 30 days.

The cause was said to be invalid traffic.

My AdMob account was threatened by people who were clicking on the ads too much.

And these operations, such as stopping, are done automatically by AI. New users who have only been using AdMob for a short period of time are unlikely to be able to appeal against a freeze.

If my AdMob account was frozen, my Adsense and Youtube accounts, which are tied to the same Google account, also stopped generating revenue, so I withdrew from AdMob.

Risks for new AdMob users

If your AdMob account is frozen, you will not be able to receive any revenue from your Adsense and Youtube accounts that are tied to the same Google account.

The ease of Unity Ads

The best thing about Unity Ads is the ease of implementation. We can easily use the ad package by simply enabling Ads in the settings on the Unity editor.

Also, the Unity Monetize dashboard is very useful, allowing you to check your IAP revenue as well as your ad revenue.

The ease of Unity Ads

Unity Ads is easy to implement and generates decent revenue.

Thanks to Unity

And I am very grateful for the fact that Unity is free to use.

Unity has taught me the joy of game development, and I want to contribute to it in any way I can. That's why I'm using Unity Ads so that Unity can earn money.

It's up to you to decide which service you want to use and how you want to monetize your game. And I think all of them are the right way.

In this article, I'd like to talk about why I use Unity Ads. I hope this will be useful for you. I hope it will be useful to you, and I wish for the further development of the Unity community.

Let's enjoy game development at its best!

Thank you for reading to the end.
